Best to take the train to Bologna and make your transfer there. Station is new and easy to navigate. The guys I work with in Parma use Bologna to train and fly all over the EU.

That's going to be quite a journey, with a number of changes. Seems like a lot for one day.

It will be easier as you plan and use the various railways' websites and apps to spell places so that the software can understand. You destination is spelled like Hallstatt.

You are looking at all day and more.

The fastest combination is over eleven hours with making 6 changes of train. Starting early at Parma, you say you will be in the "area near" Parma, can you get onto the train by 7:30?

7:30 Parma - Bologna (towards Ancona), about an hour and a 17 minute connection

8:45 Bologna - Bolzano (towards Bolzano), 2 and a half hours and waiting there for 45 minutes, time to find lunch to take on the next leg

12:02 Bolzano - Brennero/Brenner (language change)(towards Brennero), an hour and 20 minutes, an 11 minute connection

13:33 Brenner - Innsbruck (towards Wörgl Hbf), an hour and three quarters, with a very tight connection of only 4 minutes but your train is just across the platform from 6 to 7, if you miss it there is another in no more than an hour

14:17 Innsbruck - Salzburg (towards Flughafen Wien), just under 2 hours, and a 9 minute connection Salzburg

16:12 Salzburg - Attnang-Puchheim (towards Flughafen Wien), 45 minutes, then a 13 minute connection

17:11 Attnang-Puchheim - Hallstatt (towards Obertraun-Dachsteinhöhlen), 36 minutes

Now you are across the lake from Hallstatt. You need to wait for Stefanie, the little (not at all romantic) boat which shuttles across the lake. The walk down to the dock from the station to the dock is a little bit steep, especially if you have significantly large luggage. You may find it more difficult to use a spinner at that station.

There are 2 later train combinations but they start in the afternoon and take even longer and include changing trains in the middle of the night.

Are you absolutely sure that this is what you want?

Can you consider either stopping for the night partway, or perhaps rejigging your trip to approach this leg from a different place or a different order.

gas hole, this is your only post and your profile doesn't say anything about your trip (actually it doesn't say anything) so it is tough to understand the context of the question.

If you can put some meat on the bones we can probably help you more.

The quickest train connection between Parma and Hallstatt is 11:10 hours with 4 changes (one leg by bus):
Parma-Bologna-Innsbruck-Salzburg-Bad Ischl(bus)-Hallstatt

The train connection with the least number of changes (i.e. 3) is 12:33 hours:
Parma-Bologna-Innsbruck-Linz-Hallstatt

There is also a bus connection between Bologna and Salzburg (one change, about 11 hours).

From Linz there are direct trains to Hallstatt. So you might consider flying from Bologna to Linz, about 3:30 hours, one layover (either Frankfurt or Vienna).

Trains between Austria and Italy are jointly managed by OeBB (Austrian railways) and DB, tickets can be bought online from Oebb, their timetable of the Brenner stretch is at https://www.obb-italia.com/dam/jcr:350d52d3-3efd-4cd9-840f-3863d2b887c6/fahrplan_eurocity_bologna-muenchen.pdf

If you can board such a train in Bologna, it can be done by changing in Bologna, Innsbruck, Salzburg and Attnang-Pucheim. Parma-Bologna would be on Trenitalia, the rest of the itinerary on Oebb. If you use a train leaving from Verona, you have to add an extra leg Bologna-Verona on Trenitalia and an extra change. In any case it is a long trip.
