train travel

In june, I wish to train from Salzburg hbf to Oberndorf. The obb schedule shows E4.70 each way. I will be traveling with my son and grandson. Is there a charge for an 11 year old? Is there a round trip ticket? Is there a pass (like the Bayern) that includes 2 adults w/a child?

There is more than one Oberndorf. Please specify:

  • in Germany:
    • Oberndorf am Neckar, in the district of Rottweil, Baden-Württemberg
    • Oberndorf (Rottenburg), a suburb of Rottenburg am Neckar in the district of Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg
    • Oberndorf am Lech, in the district of Donau-Ries, Bavaria
    • Oberndorf, Lower Saxony, in the district of Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony
    • Oberndorf, Rhineland-Palatinate, in the Donnersbergkreis, Rhineland-Palatinate
  • in Austria:
    • Oberndorf an der Melk, in the district of Scheibbs, Lower Austria
    • Oberndorf bei Schwanenstadt, in the district of Vöcklabruck, Upper Austria
    • Oberndorf bei Salzburg, in the district of Salzburg-Umgebung, Salzburg
    • Oberndorf in Tirol, in the district of Kitzbühel, Tyrol

From Salzburg for €4.70, it must be Oberndorf bei Salzburg

Child of age 11 costs €2.40
An SVV Tageskarte (1 day card) costs €9.40, or € 4.80 for the 11-year-old.
All this from the ÖBB website.

Depending on your age, you might also get a senior discount on your fare.

There is an Einfach-Raus ticket which allows unlimited regional travel for groups of 2-5 during certain timeframes, but the cost of this ticket is more than it will cost for individual tickets.

I have difficulty with the obb site. Does the day pass include roundtrip, is oberdorf bei salzburg in the same zone as salzburg? It would seem that the day pass is the most efficient for an outing to Oberndorf and return to salzburg. Does this day ticket work on busses within salzburg on this day as well???

Day ticket senior fare 7,50 €

Day ticket minimum fare 4,80 €

CHILDREN from 6 to 14 years of age pay the minimum-fare if they are able to proof their age through showing an official document which provides information on their date of birth.

FAMILIES with a Salzburger Familienpass (alternatively also family passes of other federal states of Austria). All accompanied and registered children under the age of 15 travel free of charge. Each travelling adult pays minimum-fare.

SENIORS from 63 years of age onwards who are owners of a valid ÖBB-VORTEILScard Senior or valid ÖSTERREICHcard Senior are eligible to purchase the senior fare for single ride, hour, day and 24-hour tickets at a ~20 % reduced fare compared to the full price. - you are unlikely to qualify.
