Train to Kreuzenstein Castle?

Hello, we are planning a day trip from Vienna out to Leobedorf-Kreuzenstein. Has anyone ever done this trip before, and were you able to use a Eurail pass to take the train? I can see the route and the train stations on the OBB website, but I am not sure if a rail pass would be accepted for this route as it is the S3, which I believe is the local commuter train. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks so much! Jenny

S3 must be an S-Bahn, and according to the Eurail website,

"Eurail pass holder can travel for free on the S-Bahn in Vienna and Innsbruck. "

If you have a Eurail Global Continous pass, then you're not counting travel days within your activated travel window and could use it to just jump on that train. However, most smaller passes are the flexi-pass style and any fully covered trip would start use of a counted travel day (which lasts until midnight). The cost of an extra travel day depends on which pass you buy; it's about $25-30 per person on a pass for just Austria or Austria & Germany. Looks like the price of the separate S-Bahn ticket is only €2.40 each way.
