Train tickets from Linz to budapest

Hi!
We will be getting a ride on June 15 from Cesky Krumlov to Linz.

Then we will train from Linz to Budapest. We want to travel in first class. Do we need to purchase tickets ahead of time?
Thank you.

Advance buying of your tickets comes with a considerable discount. There can also be a huge price difference between trains on the same day. Although I don't see the advantage of first class, tickets on a direct Railjet service can be as cheap as EUR 59. Booking with the trustworthy Trainline will possibly be the easiest for you.

First class is a waste of money, but you should buy seat reservations (€3 each), especially because it is a Friday.
"Sparschiene" bargain tickets for the RailJets are limited in quantitiy, book as early as possible.
Direct trains from Linz to Budapest depart at 10:16am, 12:16pm, 2:16pm, 4:16pm, and 5:16pm (4 hours trip duration).
As of now the lowest price is still €59 (2nd class) except for the 2:16pm train.
If you are willing to change trains in Vienna, then you can depart at 1:16pm in Linz and go for €49.
