Train or Ferry ride to Budapest and Bratislava??

Planning a day trip Budapest and Bratislava in late June. Which train station would be ideal for travel from the Austria Trend Hotel Savoyen ? Would be interested in riding ferry if works better. Also is it necessary to purchase or reserve train or ferry tickets in advance? If yes, what is the website? Thank you in advance for your response.

Are you trying to visit both Budapest and Bratislava on the same day? And from where?

I'm not familiar with the hotel you mentioned but if it is in Vienna, the best station to use is Wien Hbf, the main station, because that is the station the trains to Bratislava and Budapest use.

From either Vienna or Bratislava there is no boat to Budapest.

Trains from either VIenna or Bratislava take about 2.5 hours. From Vienna the end station is Keleti, from Bratislava the end station is Nyugati.

It is not reasonable to visit Bratislava and Budapest on the same day.
Either city is doable as a day trip by train, for Budapest you must start early and return late, though.
Don't take the boat to Bratislava; it is expensive and the ride is boring. Buy the special Bratislava return ticket for the train which includes free use of public transport there.

A day trip to Budapest? Sure. There are 24 hours in a day, So leave at 8am and return at 8am, because Budapest in the evening is a different city. Stay at the Marriott or the Intercintinental and get a 24 hour metro pass. Plan a little in advance and you will return.

Bratislava I have never been to. Post what to do in 24 hours for each city, in separate posts, and see the responses you get. Then decide.
