Train info for day train Innsbrook to Rome this summer

My college age daughter will be traveling alone. Does anyone know the safest, easiest train (day) to take? Also any recommendations on a safe hotel or hostel for her to stay in alone for one night? Preferably easy to find from the train?

The best daytime trains schedules on this route take 7 - 8 hours with one connection at either Bologna or Verona. Other daytime departures just have more connections, so you're not likely to choose them. See more info and links on this similar topic from today.

There is a ton of accommodation near Roma Termini station. If you want her to stay with some nuns and have an 11 p.m. curfew, it helps to book early.

There are Eurocity trains from Innsbruck to Verona every two hours (starting at 9:27). Some go on to Bologna. From there there are Italian trains (ES) to Rome.

You can find schedules (but not fares) on the German Rail website. Hint: spell it "Innsbruck". It's "Bruck" which is bridge in German, not Brook.

This is quite easy by train. Take the inter-city train at Innsbruck (coming from München) to Bologna (there are usually 3 or 4 per day). It is about 4.5 hours. Then take the Trenitalia intercity train from Bologna to Rome, I think it is about 3.5 hours. There is not much at the Bologna station and the city center is about 1 kilometer from the Bologna station so not worth a look during a layover. You can take the night train from Innsbruck at around midnight and arrive in Rome around 6:30. I've taken this before, it's pretty safe.
