train from Salzburg to Verona or Pisa

Hello - we are at the beginning stages of an itinerary for our anniversary trip and I need some help with the Austrian train website. After flying into Munich and staying for a few days, we are going to Salzburg via train for 4 nights, then head to Italy.

Initially our plan was to stay in Verona for 2 nights, but we wouldn't get there until later the first day and now wondering whether to just head to our home base of Lucca from Salzburg (via fast train to Pisa Centrale). I went onto the Austrian website and don't get the ticketing process. Could someone help clarify this for me? I would like to reserve seats of course and hopefully on the right side of the trains (especially the first leg passing through the Brenner pass).
Can I book the Italian section of this trip or just go onto Trenitalia's site after I book the first leg? Is there a site I can book the entire trip at once? I also looked at airfare, but it seemed to be high and almost as long as the train, plus more hassle IMO. please advise! thank you

I agree. To get to Pisa, you would have to get to Florence and take a 1 hr. train west.

Going by train from Salzburg to Lucca is more then 10 hours with 3 train changes.

I would consider to go by train to Munich, take a flight to Pisa (about $140), and go to Lucca by train. By that you won't reduce the number of changes, but save time.
