Train from Lucerne to Salzburg

We’ll be taking the train on a Sunday in October from LUCERNE TO SALZBURG.

It was suggested to take a train Lucerne to Zurich, then Zurich to Salzburg.

We are staying 3 nights Sun/Mon/Tues in Salzburg.

Ideas - tour Salzburg Kapitelplatz, Residenzplatz, Alter Market, Sound of Music scenery, Eagles Nest, salt mine

Any insight on the train or the ideas I have planned? Taking train back to Munich after this for a few days before flying home.

There is nothing to say about the train route, it is perfectly OK. Just make sure to have seat reservations for both trains.

Visiting Zugspitze is not viable when based in Salzburg.

For the train Luzern - Salzburg just book with www.oebb.at as they usually have the best prices. You book this on one ticket, there is no need to book Luzern - Zurich and Zurich - Salzburg separately.
