Looks like the train just cuts through the northern tip of Liechtenstein between Feldkirch and Buchs without stopping.

Yes, been on it. Blink and you might miss it. Just before you arrive in Buchs.

Doesn't that pretty much describe Liechtenstein, in general? I takes 24 minutes to get from Feldkirch to Buchs, and only part of that time is in Liechtenstein.

I was going to suggest you get off the RJ in Feldkirch and take a regional train through Liechtenstein to Buchs and maybe even have a chance to get off at some station along the way, but the regional train route from Feldkirch to Buchs avoids Liechtenstein entirely.

Even if I put in Innsbruck to Zürich with a stopover in Leichtenstein, it routes me from Feldkirch to Buchs on the RJ, then backtracks by bus into Schaan, Liechtenstein, a suburb of Vaduz. It doesn't even look to me like there is a Hbf in Vaduz.

I've made that run recently. The train does not even cross into Liechtenstein. Buchs then run across the bridge to actual "be" there. And not a lot to look at either.

All trains on the main route from Austria to Switzerland go through Liechenstein between Feldberg and Buchs (contrary to what some posters have said), but they don't stop in Liechtenstein. Look at a map, there is only one railway line between Feldberg and Buchs.
There are a very few local trains between Feldberg and Buchs which stop at the stations in Liechtenstein, but there is no station in Vaduz (the capital), the nearest station is Schaan.
If you want to go to Vaduz, there is a regular bus (more frequent than the trains) from Buch station to Vaduz. There is not much to see when you get there.

Yes - I am incorrect on the crossing. My apologies.
