Tours In Vienna

Any recommendations for small tours in Vienna which are interesting? More to know about the city.

Thanks

I would suggest a tour with Shades Tours. Someone from the homeless community gives small groups an excellent insight into homelessness in Vienna and the social welfare system. This tour has been mentioned in international media and is well reviewed.

Thanks. I saw this tour and it looks to be really insightful. I will be taking tour with 2 young kids and would prefer tours with some history about the city.

Thanks.

I don't know how young the kids are, but I would whole-heartedly recommend Cold War Vienna Tours. Their walking tour is about 2.5 hours and ends with a stop at the Third Man Museum. We had the Rick-Steves-recommended Gerhard Strassgschwandtner as guide; he was beyond excellent. He told the story of bombed-out, Allied-controlled Vienna. We stood on street corners and looked at post-war pictures of those corners. At the Third Man Museum, we walked through the Third Man part of the museum, watched a clip of the movie projected from celluloid film onto a cleverly-designed screen, and walked through the post-WWII part of the museum. It was one of the better private tours I have done.

You should check out the tours offered through the TI office. Lots of themes, and, if I remember correctly, 10 euros/pp.

Ok, having two small kids is a major detail to consider when making a tour recommendation. Are your kids small as in they will be in strollers, or are they small but will be walking, or are they bigger/small kids? Do you want a walking tour (can the kids keep up?), bicycle tour, bus tour, segway tour, self-guided tour?

Secret Vienna offers really interesting, in-depth smaller group walking tours. You can also follow them on facebook as they offer really cool history tidbits about Vienna.

There is the old timer bus tour:

I think that they might not have uploaded them yet on their website. Maybe write them an email?
