We are traveling from Hallstatt to Vienna by car. Thinking I might be able to get in the cruise from Melk to Krems on the way to Vienna.Questions are can we get off and back on while traveling downstream, how much time should I allow,and can I return via train to Melk ( has to be faster) to retrieve my car and then continue to Vienna
/ Appreciate any and all suggestions.

My thoughts are now to just drive the Wacha valley. We can visit the Melk Abbey then cross the river to make stops in Spitz,Krems,etc. Then, when needed, continue on to Vienna.
Has anyone made this trip? Something we should not miss? or is there something to miss?
