Ticket for Mozart's birthplace and residence in Salzburg?

I read that Mozart's residence and his birthplace home were free to enter. Yet, there is an admission ticket sold for the Mozart museums in Salzburg. Which is it? We only have 1 1/2 days in Salzburg (in June), and we don't want to miss this because we didn't get a ticket in advance.

Mozart's birthplace is not free to enter. We bought tickets at the ticket booth located in the entrance when we got there. We didn't visit the residence, but they sell a combo ticket if you want to visit both.

I visited these sites on my first visit to Salzburg ten years ago . Not recalling the admission details , I looked into this on your behalf . It seems that admission is free if you have a " Salzburg Card ", but otherwise there is a ticket fee . . ( 18.50 combined entrance ) I found the Birth House the more interesting of the two .

The best thing to do in preparation is to familiarize yourselves with some of Mozart's biography , and listen to some of his music ( Are you listeners of classical music ? ) One of the displays in the Geburtshaus are the examples of the early pianos that evolved into the modern pianos we know today Immensely prolific , this piano concerto is one of his stunningly beautiful works , particularly , the second movement - https://youtu.be/7-WoXsL2ZTA This composition , another great example - https://youtu.be/BbjpuMid8DE

Personally, I would skip the Mozart residence. It did not add much vs the birthplace, and the way the displays were laid out basically force you to use the audioguide, which I hate. Had I not bought the Salzburg card, it would have been a waste of money for me.

I did enjoy visiting the birthplace, it took me 45 minutes at most (it is not big).

I was there on a weekend in September and buying tickets in advance was totally unnecessary. I do not remember if the Salzburg Card lets you skip the line or not, though.

3 folks here with a single thought - me too.

Loved the birthplace and spent nowhere near enough time there, probably a couple of hours only. Wonderful displays and settings. Really takes you back and into his, and the family's life. I could have been there for more time.

Across the river to the residence and it did little for me. I think I spent more time in the shop than I did wandering around. No need to return.

I remember paying but have no recollection of how much.

I love Mozart, Not as much as JSB and some others but the music is always on in our house.

As far as the teen? Don't know. If they love music, if they love Mozart they will probably appreciate it. It has been a long time since for me....

Like others, I enjoyed the Geburtshaus and did not find the Residence so interesting. At the Geburtshaus, you get to stand in the room where Mozart was born. How cool is that?
