Hello,
I am traveling with my wife, and adult daughter to Vienna in early July. We are arriving by train from Prague Midday on Wed and flying out on the following Sunday.
We are staying at the Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth in town which I believe is centrally located and have booked a 4 hour guide for Thursday AM in order to get a good overview of the city.
We love art and music and history and food.
Some questions:
Can anyone recommend any of the classical music places that are not a tourist trap that are actually open in July? I understand that most of the real ones are closed. We live in NYC and have access throughout the year and would skip music if its not a serious performance.
What Art museums are recommended ? Is the Mumok recommended?
We arrive on Wed afternoon. Any suggestions on making the most of that half day in the center of town?
Are any excursions that are highly recommended ?
Great restaurants? We have one night booked at Oboufes and would love other options.
I know this is alot and I dont expect comprehensive answers but perhaps if someone has done something they love in Vienna in these areas they would share it.

For the very first time there will be an opera performance in July in the garden of Belvedere palace.

Thank you, this is very helpful.
For art museums, the Kunsthistorische is at the top of the list. The collection at the Belvedere Palace features a number of Klimts. The Albertina should also be on your list.
Here is a little folder, targeted at short-time visitors. On pages 2 and 3 it gives you a good overview of the main sights in Vienna, suggesting two walks in the city center. (Ignore page 4 which is not up to date, as this folder has not been reprinted since 2020 due to Corona times without tourists in Vienna.)
