Recently bought a "fancy" Italian rollaboard with a bunch of pouches with and without zippers.
They're meant to organize ones belongings.
I guess I need to read the instructions on what goes where.
Do you guys/gals ever use these ?
They look cool but I have my own way of packing that seems efficient.
I wonder if they would enable me to pack more stuff?
Thoughts.
I’m sorry. Use what? Zippered or non zippered pouches?
Never seen or used.
Pack how you want. Just because something is included doesn’t mean you need to use it.
Maybe if you post a photo or the bag, we can get a better idea. I often take out all the extra doodads that come with a suitcase..
Not exactly sure what you mean.
I have used super lightweight Eagle Creek packing cubes in various sizes for years. It keeps my bag organized and are especially useful if moving lodging every few nights.
Use them. Don't use them. Do what works for you.
It's hard to visualize what you mean by pouches. Are they built in/attached to the suitcase? Back in the day the old samsonite hard shell cases had a zippered "pouch" attached to the bag that my mom always used for toiletries. There were two on the ends of the suitcase that just had elastic around the top that she would use for larger loose things like socks. And there was another one attached to the divider that separated the two halves of the case. PJs and undies went in there. As far as I know there weren't any instructions. She put things where she wanted to put them. And I suppose if they were in her way she could have just cut them out.
I don't know if it is the same, but my bag has a number of quite small pouches. I do use them. It helps me pack light, and I know where I have put things. One is the perfect size for my contact lens case and right on the front. I use them for most of my toiletries, and smaller items.
I've seen bags like that. It could be useful if you're a well-organized person who can keep things orderly, and have a good recollection of which things are where. I'm not. After the first day, my bag is a jumble of stuff and it takes me a while to find the small things. Organizers, or even plastic bags, I can take out work well enough for me.
I usually travel light but since this trip is in December and have to pack a mixture of medium and heavy sweaters.
OP, I think if you can post a link to the bag, forum members might be able to comment more usefully.
There's a youtube video
Roncato Uno Premium 3.0
Here's a link to the website and the relevant bag. Also a video - just scroll to the 4 minute mark and it shows the inside.

It's just a simple set of packing cubes. Hundreds for sale on Amazon, etc. The don't appear to be compression bags, which is the real key to bag size minimization.
The dividers? They look nice and seem well integrated. I used to make cardboard inserts to keep folded shirts, sports coats and slacks organized and neat when I traveled for business.
As for what goes where, my packing hack is to carry underwear and socks for each unique city I plan to visit in a small, sperate compression bag. Ditto for a pair of slacks and a couple of shirts. Only two bags plus toiletries have to come out of the suitcase and dirty clothes a have place to go when I repack for travel to the next city.
