Hi everyone,
Does anyone have an estimate for taking a taxi from the Vienna train station to central Vienna (we are staying at the Guesthouse)? We are arriving late and deciding between a car service or a taxi.
Thanks in advance!

Which train station? Vienna has several. If it is the Hauptbahnhof it is about a 10 minute ride by taxi.
Evan taking a Taxi from Westbahnhof is not that expensive, especially if you're arriving late when traffic will be lighter. Which area is your guesthouse in ("central" is a broad term).
Why not use public transportation? It is brilliant in Vienna.
We were ripped off, I guess, by a taxi in Vienna, who charged us about 25 Euro to go from Westbahnhof to a hotel north of Schwedenplatz on the other side of the river. Perhaps it was the one-way streets and the Ring Road at fault, but we learned the hard way: take the Metro. We did so going back to the station and it was not only cheaper but faster than the damn cab!
You could ask your hotel to arrange a car.
Laurel,
I was probably ripped-off too as I think I paid about the same, but I usually find a Taxi the best option when I arrive in a new city and I'm hauling luggage. I wasn't in the mood to deal with the Metro. However, I do use the Metro in Paris even with luggage, but I'm more familiar with things there.
On the bright side, the Taxi driver was from Croatia or somewhere, and he was a real character so the ride was interesting.
Ken,
That's exactly why we took the taxi! Easier on arrival in a strange city with baggage.
I would also recommend you to use the public transportation in Vienna. But if you want to use a taxi, I can recommend you this one: http://airport-taxi-wien.wien/en/
I hope I could help you!
