Sunday meal In Vienna

Add Levante to lunch options on Sundays in the inner city. Mariahilfer strasse. Generous, tasty portions of Mediterranean dishes at reasonable cost.

Mariahilferstrasse is not in the center. Most restaurants in Vienna are open on Sunday. I agree that Levante has good food.

It seems to me that locals are more generous regarding what "center" means in Vienna.
Whereas Americans restrict it mostly to the first city borough, locals tend to use it for the area within the "Gürtel" road.

Two of the suggested restaurants in the Hoffberg area were closed- we wanted a casual spot and found this one fit our needs.

This is Vienna's most comprehensive restaurant guide:

Although in German it is easily understandable. If you select the features "Essen am Sonntag" (eating on Sunday) and "Empfohlen" (recommended) then you get only the better places which are open on Sundays. (Even locals complain that a lot of restaurants are closed over the weekend.)

This restaurant is open on Sunday, very recommendable, went back 2-3 times, located off the Am Graben...".Reinthaler's Beisl," address: Dorotheergasse 4, no credit cards. They are against electronic payment, therefore, only cash.

".Reinthaler's Beisl," address: Dorotheergasse 4

I like that Beisl (= kind of pub) because of its basic Viennese cuisine, it is the "cooking like grandma did" style. Don't expect a posh place. Given that this restaurant is right in the middle of Vienna's most expensive city borough, the prices are very moderate.
