Summer Solstice on the Danube

We will be staying in Vienna during the Summer Solstice, June 18th, and would like some input from others that have experienced the festival in the Wachau Valley. Do most people arrived by boat and then disembark for the festivities (bonfires, fireworks, etc.) or do they stay on the boat, traveling on the Danube to see the events on shore? Also, is there a favorite location in the valley for these festivities?
Would love to hear from anyone that has experienced this cultural event.
Thank you!

I have not been at these festivities myself, so I can't tell what most people do.

There is no overall schedule available, as every town and every public transport (ship, train) organizes their events more or less independently.

If you search with Google for "Wachau" and "Sonnenwende" you will find a lot of information, not necessarily in English.

I guess that boat trips starting shortly before sunset are very popular. Look for the different ship operators and book in time.
