Vienna Stumpergasse 6th district accommodations?

Hello -- I am looking for accommodations in Vienna for a few days in the summer. I wonder if someone could give me some information about the 6th district, specifically the Stumpergasse area? It looks a bit further out than the hotels in the Mariahilfer Strasse area Rick recommends in his book, but I can't really figure out how much further out this is. Could someone tell me what the neighborhood is like (safe? restaurants/cafes?) as well as what the commute via public transportation might be like into the inner part of the city? Pros/cons of this area versus the Mariahilfer Strasse area? I am looking for some objective information, in addition to what I see on the website of the establishment. Thanks very much!

Use the official map of the City of Vienna to get acquainted, use the check marks on the left to add further information, e.g. public transport:
https://www.wien.gv.at/stadtplan/en/
(This map is also available as an app for smartphones.)

Mariahilfer Strasse runs east-west from the center and is the north border of the 6th borough. Gumpendorfer Strasse runs in the same direction, and is the main street of the 6th borough. Stumpergasse runs north-south and is a cross-road to the two other. Hence it makes no difference where in Stumpergasse you are, the distance to the center is always the same.

It is a lively area and as safe as practically everywhere in Vienna. Public transport is available at either end of Stumpergasse.

The distance to the center, i.e. the Ringstrasse (ring boulevard), is about 1.2 miles, walkable in about 20 minutes if you like.

We have been staying at K&T Boardinghouse for almost 20 years after reading Rick stayed there when in town. The Mariahilfer metro station entrance is just across the street and we can be sitting at St. Stephens in 5 minutes. The street scene is very lively with decent neighborhood coffee houses and restaurants. We see no reason to stay elsewhere, especially at the price.

Thank you!

David, the place we are looking at seems to be about 8 blocks further out than K&T....just on the far side of Stumpergasse. I know from Rick's Vienna book that he likes the area where the K&T is located, but wondered what the area a little further away was like....if anyone knows.

The distance from K&T to Stumpergasse is about half a mile.

As there are no evenly spaced blocks in Vienna, the number of blocks as a measure of distance is not meaningful.
