Going to take the kids (17-18yrs) hiking around GAP and visit the palaces at the end of May. Was looking for a nice scenic hike within an hour or so from GAP in Austria. Thanks Hank

I suggest that you go to Seefeld and take the cable cars up to the top of the mountain and hike the ridge. Here is a map:

I also highly recommend walking through the Leutasch Gorge near Mittenwald. Beautiful.

I don't know why you think it has to be in Austria, but Ehrwald, Austria, to the SW is closest to GaP.
