Do they sell standing room tickets for the ballets at the Vienna Opera House? I will be in town and would like to see MAYERLING on a Sunday next month.

Unless you just want to tick it off your bucket list, I would suggest paying for a better seat The standing room places aren't very good, unless you are one of the first 60 SR patrons through the door. Otherwise, you won't be able to see all of the stage. If you decide to go with standing room, be sure to bring a scarf to mark your place.

Thank you all! I'm still trying to decide if I want to go. I bought $30 box seats in Prague for later in my trip to see Aida (next to lower balcony so pretty central). If the line is terribly long then I'll likely skip and just do a tour of the opera house.

For an even cheaper option, Wiener Staatsoper live outdoors is the opportunity to see Mayerling projected on a screen on the side of the building. You can check out the details on-line. I loved our evening in the Wiener Staatsoper last year, but if you already have tickets at Prague, this gives you another option.
