We are planning our trip to Austria in September and the dates we tentatively plan to be in Salzburg fall during the St. Rupert's Festival. September 21-24. From pictures of past festivals, it appears that the central area of the city is full of activities, some carnival rides, etc. We are not really into that type of activity for this trip. Does the festival take over the whole city? How does it impact touring around on foot, etc.? We have some flexibility in our schedule. Thanks!
