Bob's Sound of Music tours are well reviewed and mentioned often on here. Panorama tours is also mentioned on here quite often.

Edit: If you do a tour make sure it's one that goes to Mondsee to see the church where the wedding was filmed. And have a strudel in a cafe there. That was the most enjoyable part of the tour for me.

We took a Sound of Music tour way back in 1986. Ours was with American Express and took half a day. It was a wonderful experience. The songs from SofM was played on the bus and many of us sang along. My parents talked about it until they died. I don't even know if there is an American Express office in Salzburg anymore. I would love to take a Sound of Music tour again someday. I'm sorry I can't offer the name of a tour company. I hope it works out such that you can take a tour.

All the best for a wonderful trip!

Panorama tours. I’ve done it 3 times between 1970 and 2011. Many sights now are in pedestrian only areas, so I recommend that you walk around the altstadt also. Watch the movie again before you go to refresh your memory.

We did the SOM tour with Bob's Special Tours in December 2022. I loved that it was just a minivan that we were in, so just a few people per group. The tour was excellent!

Rick lists several options in his guidebook and admits that even though he took the tour "for research purposes" he ended up having a good time.

You might also watch the Samantha Brown episode on Salzburg, she talks of little else but SOM since she was a HS theater major.

The good news for me was it was possible to visit Salzburg and NOT have to participate in the SOM agenda.
