Sound of Music: Maria's Bicycle Tour or Panorama Tour?

My husband and I and son (college) and daughter (HS) plan to arrive in Salzburg around 7:30pm on Friday, 3/30 for two nights, departing at 3:10 on Sunday, 4/1. We want to do the Sound of Music Tour on Saturday and would love feedback of those who ideally have done both Maria's Bicycle Tour and the Panorama Tour, but open to individual feedback too.

Thanks!

My sister and I did the Panorama Tour and had a great time. BUT we grew up on all the music, and we sing, so we liked singing along on the bus (although not many others knew all the songs). It was a beautiful morning and left us most of the afternoon to explore more of Salzburg. If your children like to be active and the weather is in your favor, they might rather enjoy the bike tour.

My college girls and I did the bike tour in mid-May. We loved it but even in mid May we wore gloves, hats, and scarves. The weather forecast may have to be part of your decision. Enjoy!

I’ve done the Panorama tour three times over the past 47 ( Yikes! ) years. Many of the sites are in the pedestrian areas and aren’t seen on a bus tour. The main advantage of the bus tour is the trip to Mondsee where the wedding took place. You can do the pedestrian locations easily by yourself. I imagine that seeing these are one of the advantages of the bike tour.

Thank you everyone for your replies and helpful feedback! Although I think the bicycle tour would be a lot of fun, I ended up purchasing tickets for the Panorama Tour due to 1. Going to further away places such as Mondsee where the wedding took place, and us being able to walk to the other SOM places on our own, and 2. Weather - we're so limited on time that I want to ensure we enjoy ourselves and don't think it would be very fun if it's raining (and cold).

Thanks again!

We did the Panorama tour late January 2014. During the off season Panorama used a minivan that accommodated the 7 of us with the guide doing the driving.

We used Bob's to do SoM as well as Hallstadt. Very pleasant. Small tour with 6 of us plus the guide. We stopped for lunch in a charming rural restaurant.
