So much music in Vienna

Any recommendations which venue for tickets in Vienna 8/24-28?

Use the link below for concerts etc. Most all local good orchestras are not in Vienna in August. Avoid ANY that are in period costumes...overpriced for lower quality music. They do list an operetta gala that might be fun.

Unless part of your motivation is seeing the venue itself (eg. concerts at Schonbrunn), then I would go to the free concerts on the big screen in from of city hall. It's not live, but it's the Vienna Philharmonic! Sit in the non-smoking, no food or drink bleachers and you'll be sitting with others that are there to enjoy the concert.

If it's organ music you want to hear, go to a church service. Don't worry if you don't understand the language, it will be obvious when you should start mumbling the Lord's Prayer.

Maggie do you know where I would find the schedule for the concerts in the square?
I clicked on the link for all events but not much is showing up.

I am not sure they have a schedule for the broadcast concerts at the Rathaus. I know it will be a very large screen showing, but not a live performance. It is always fun to just drop in and see what is playing.

The music advertised for the concerts seem oh so similar. During our visit we will be limited to venues. Don't want to stray too far from the hotel. Has anyone input to ANY differences between the music played at the Imperial Hall (New Year's Day concert venue) and the Shoenbrunn Palace. I have two church concerts in mind for our time there also.
