That is always a tough question to answer -- only answer -- it depends! Time of day, number of other flights, passenger traffic, and no one can forecast that. I plan at least two hours, maybe three, since you not only have to walk to the front of the airport, check-in, reenter security, etc. So I would give yourself plenty of time.

A1) So you bought separate tickets?
A2) Or is the first case I have ever heard of where this was necessary when traveling on the same ticket?
A3) "sometimes" at "some" airports in the past I have seen vending machines on the security side to get your next boarding pass, but that only works if you go carry-on only.
A4) Vienna airport isn't that bad, I would think you would be safe with 2 hours lay-over if your first flight wasn't late.

Vienna International Airport is pretty compact. The check-in areas are one floor above the arrival hall, and the distance between the terminals is easy walkable. Luggage is presented on the conveyor belts rather quickly.

I guess it would be doable in one hour, but as far as I noticed are connections with a self-transfer normally not offered by booking systems with a layover shorter than two hours.

@James E.

When you look up flights from Innsbruck to Dubrovnik via Vienna on checkfelix.com (in German) or kayak.com (in English) - by the way sharing the same and best search engine for flights - you will find self-transfer for most flights in case two different airlines are involved, at least one of which being a low cost carrier.

A lot of low cost airlines do not have interagency agreements for luggage transfer. So who are your airlines?

My tickets are indeed two airlines. Austria and Wiz. Any way, thanks for your replies . They were enough to help me make a decision- and they came so fast! I'm going to have to use this forum more often....

Why not book the whole trip with Austrian airlines instead? That way you get a protected connection in Vienna.
