Schonbrunn Palace - how far ahead to pre-purchase tickets

I've seen discussion on the best time of the day to visit Schonbrunn Palace as well as talk of the classic pass. Apparently the classic pass is available online tomorrow. We plan on visiting the first week of June. Does anyone know how far in advance you need to purchase a pass? I have no idea if they limit the number of passes and sell out quickly or if you could leave purchasing a pass until a few days before you plan on visiting. If anyone has experience in this area please let me know.
Thank you
JoAnn

We were there in May (about one or two weeks before you will be there). We bought our tickets the day of, at the palace. We did arrive right at the opening, but had little wait and got on one of the first (if not the first) tours of the day. Afterwards, we were able to explore the grounds without there being too many people - I think they were all waiting in line or inside!

I see no reason not to purchase them in advance if you are concerned though. Either way, I would recommend getting there as early as possible.

I visited in mid-August and bought my pass prior to leaving home, probably in late July. I have no idea if passes sell out but I am a planner so this worked for me.

We will be visiting May 26th and I bought my tickets yesterday mainly because I wanted the time I wanted and now I have it.

I just purchased our Classic Pass for a May 29 visit. I probably didn't need to buy it so far ahead, but I'm glad it's off my 'to do' list!

We were in Vienna just before New Year (school holidays, very busy) -- dropped in at Schoenbrunn and there was a 3-hour wait to tour the palace so we bought timed tickets for the next morning.
