Schoenbrunn Panorama Train

Can someone please tell me where to get tickets for the Panorama Train? Looking at the map at the following link, we would prefer entrance stop 9 (Meidlinger Gate) rather than 1, because there will be two small children (two and four) and 9 looks just a little bit closer to the U-Bahn.

Thank you all. I am trying to help find details for a trip for family members both to Vienna and Venice, and may have some more questions for both areas.

You buy the tickets when boarding the train. A day ticket (together with a stamp on your hand) entitles you to hop on/off as often as you like.

I go to Schonbrunn all the time with my kids. The easiest way to get to a panorama train stop is to get off the U-bahn at Hietzing, not Schonbrunn. That would be stop #3 on your map. This route requires the least amount of walking and will be vastly less crowded.

The walking distance between U4 stops Hietzing or Schönbrunn to the panorama train stops #3 or #9 respectively is virtually identical, i.e. about 300 yards.

Thanks, that is very helpful. The reason I want to bring them in at Meidlinger Tor is that I want them to go just one or two stops, have them go in back of the palace, see the gardens there and the view of the Gloriette, then on to the Irrgarten for some play and rest. Then back out, pick up the train, ride it, then go to Hietzing (they don't know yet whether they will have the strength to go into the zoo).

I wanted them to go out the Hietzinger Tor because we have Family ties there (my grandparents got married in the church there and I used to eat ice cream at Della Lucia when I lived there (Gymnasium).

But plans are fluid, I just want to provide them with some info so that they don't have to scramble too much.

I'll have another question separately.

Thanks again, Erika
