Salzburg with teens

We will be spending 1-2 days in Salzburg with our boys (15,17) in Nov/Dec. Right now we are planning on visiting hohensalzsburg, st Peter's church. Opting not to do SOM tour this trip.

We would love input on.....

Places we should've miss (little known treasures?)

Places to stay (will probably check out Airbnb)

Places to eat

Thanks!!

My 13-yr-old son enjoyed the Red Bull Hangar. Even their boutique (Red Bull World on Getreidegasse near Mozart's birthplace) was fun - they let us try out the simulator upstairs. Cool souvenirs for teenage boys too.
Loved Hohensalzburg Fortress - the tram up and walk down were both awesome. Fantastic photo ops from up there. The bells at sunset were unforgettable.
We took the tram up to the top of the Alps (Untersberg) and loved that too.

the red bull hanger is a good option and its free, check out the toilets while there.
if you want an easy, little ( but nice) taste of SOM then the abbey is a stones throw from the castle. if you know SOM then you will recognize the metal gates and entry to the abbey. It was a nice treat for us and not far out of the way.

hope this helps
