Salzburg to Lucerne

We will be traveling from Salzburg to Lucerne and have the Swiss Travel pass. Do we need to reserve the train tickets prior to traveling? If so, how does that work with the Swiss Travel Pass since part of the journey is in Austria?

You can buy a regular ticket from Salzburg to Buchs SG (the first station in Switzerland), and then you can use the Swiss Pass from there.
