Salzburg to Cesky Krumlov?

Hello, expert panel. We are staying for 5 days in Salzburg after a few days in Munich and then heading to Switzerland. I am wondering if a day trip to CK from Salzburg is worth it. We have a couple days currently scheduled to enjoy Salzburg and a couple day trips for Halstatt and Eagles Nest. Has anyone made the trip to CK? I figured going all the way to Vienna might be too long of a day and have never been to Czech Republic. However, I see lots of day trips advertised from vienna or Prague to Cak, but nothing FROM Salzburg. Any tips would be appreciated.

We went to Cesky Krumlov several years ago. We had a taxi pick us up from Vienna and drive us. We went from there to Prague (bus) to meet up with our daughter who was on a study abroad. Our hotel in CK arranged the transport. Its a beautiful town - worthy of an over night. Not sure I would do it as a day trip - looks like it is a good 2 1/2 hours each way. Are you planning to rent a car - when I looked from Vienna - train travel was not really an option but it was many years ago.

Thanks. It looks beautiful.I thought about making it a day trip using a drop off service, and then taking the same service back. That might be an outlandish cost though. I'll let you all know.I wanted to see Prague but had to shave some things off the trip so we weren't scrambling every single day.I feel like I may have one more day in Salzburg than I need and trying to make the most of it. But, in the end, a day to nap and recharge might win out.

Several years ago we had a driver take us from Vienna to Prague with a 3-4 hour stop in CAK. Did not think it unreasonable. Names was in Rick's guide. Would think round trip would be similar.

Last September, we had to reorganize our trip multiple times due COVID. We went from Prague to Cesky Krumlov on a FlixBus. We stayed 2 nights, which was a bit too long. You can walk the whole town in a few hours, and the town closed up early. The Castle was definitely worth the 3-4 hours we spent there and in the gardens.

We hired Sebastian Tour for a car and driver to Salzburg. Definitely worth the cost as there was limited transportation available.

We really enjoyed Hallstatt for a three-day stay mid-trip. We stayed at the Horizen Hotel and would definitely recommend it for the location on the lake, the comfortable room and the restaurant.
