My husband and I and another couple will be in Salzburg 2-5 May departing 6 May for Berlin. Any recommendations on the best way to travel (train, air) to Berlin? The flights we have checked seem to be expensive.

A quick search on bahn.com suggests that the train will take six or seven hours, with changes in Munich and possibly also Nuremberg. The cheap fares for that date have all sold out, with only the full-price fare of 150 euros per person available.

A short search on https://www.kayak.com/flights shows two direct flights from Salzburg to Berlin:
EasyJet for $69 and EuroWings for $122.
The cheapest bus connection (Flixbus) is about €27, but the travel time is more than 10 hours.

It could be that the site of the Deutsche Bahn had a hitch, but it does offer advance-bought tickets at EUR 59,90.
