Salzburg sleeping accommodations

Trying to book direct accommodations in Salzburg last couple of days of November/first of December. Rick has always encouraged going directly to the owner so they receive better compensation (I assume I will get a better price too). Suggestions of places you have stayed in the downtown area? We are two women who would prefer separate beds if possible.Thank you!

Weisse Taube. Very close to the Dom and the Christmas market. I've stayed here several times, and their front desk is very helpful, especially with finding you restaurant reservations.

There are many places to find accommodations in Salzburg as it's a city with many B&B's and people with rooms for rent within walking distance of downtown. TripAdvisor has a great section on different accommodations there. Sure, you may can find a slightly lower price contacting a B&B or hotel direct, but it's seldom worth the hassle. And even the least expensive place you find will be impeccably clean throughout Austria and Bavaria.
Don't be surprised to find just about every person you run into in Salzburg to be like a tour guide. It's a most accommodating city in every way for tourists.
And the St. Augustiner is one of the last of the really authentic Beer Halls--and one of our favorites.

We also stayed at the Weisse Taube (White Dove) and would stay there again. It was very handy to all of the places we wanted to visit.

Always requesting a twin room will get two twin beds. A double will almost always get you a single, double bed.

We were there in 2015. We stayed in a B&B and then for 2 nights in JUFA Hotel. We had a private room. It's not fancy, but it is inexpensive. Breakfast was good. Many families stay there.

Late November of this year (2018)? Better book soon if not already.

If by "downtown" you mean the old city then I suggest you just do "Salzburg hotels" on Google Maps and start reaching out to see who has availability within your price range. That will be your best bet via hotel. Airbnb may give you options in that area as well, but I've found more on the areas on the opposite side of the river using that.

Boutique Hotel am Dom. Best place I've found in multiple trips. On a nice side street lines with antique shops and a pastry/coffee shop. Less than 100 yards from the Mozart Square. Wonderful place, great staff, perfect location.

And if you're trying to book last-minute, you may find that a site like booking.com is invaluable -- you can see what is actually bookable and not waste time on unavailable places. We have stayed at Hotel Drei Kreuz and Goldenes Theater Hotel, both very nice with good breakfasts.
