Salzburg question.

While I’ve been to Salzburg 6 times, I’ve never been to the Augustiner Bräu Mülln. I’m going with a friend who’s never been to Europe. We are going for the Advent Markets (I’ve been twice for this). Is this a worthwhile stop for some food and a drink?

For sure, though the beer garden is where it’s magical and probably less fun in the winter. Still, great beer and a bunch of different food stalls with very good traditional food. After six trips you need to get in there!

well you won't be under the spreading chestnut trees and that is a real shame, but they have plenty of indoor heated rooms and the menu won't let you down. Just be ready for your glasses to steam up

We sat both "under the chestnut trees" and upstairs in one of the oaken dining rooms upstairs when we visited a couple of weeks ago. Preferred the dining room. The beer garden was very crowded and full of cigarette smoke. But it was a great experience. The beer is excellent, and I've never had better barbecued ribs.

Salzburg is one of the most enjoyable cities we've visited this summer on our Grand European Tour. We stayed east/south of the center city, in the Aigen area beyond the Volksgarten. Walking along the Salzach River every morning to get downtown was a rare treat. Just a beautiful place.

A young adult and I visited the Augustiner Bräu Mülin during Christmas Market time last year. We both enjoyed the vibe and the food. We went 2 nights while in Salzburg. Neither of us are beer fans. We did the choreographed beer purchase the first night -- we both got a Coke the second night.

Okay, I will probalby be roasted for this. My experience about 3 weeks ago.
Do keep in mind that I am a spoiled old fart.

The soon to be flood rains had just begun so the beer garden was out of the question.
Inside was amazingly empty at 2pm on a week day; which was a good thing.
The room we were sent to was pretty uninspiring in just about every description.
The meun was anything but "wow"
The staff and service was fair to very-fair.
The beer was excellent and at about 4 euro, while twice the cost of drinking here, not horribly priced for the venue and the city.
If I were younger I might go back on a pretty evening and enjoy it.
