Salzburg: Parking the rental outside the city for 2 days.

I think we are going to rent a car in Vienna & just drive our way through to the Italian Dolomites & drop off at Innsbruck for the flight home.

I just love the flexibility of it. We do intend to spend 2 nights in Salzburg. The Salzburg website has several parking lots outside of the city with seemingly easy transportation into the historic area. That would work out fine for us.

But the Salzburg website insinuates that the parking outside the city is for a daily. Can I just leave the car there for like 36-48 hours while we do our "Salzburg Experience?

We just parked our car at a B&B on a farm 4 miles from town and rode a bus into the center city.
You can always park the car in the lot and ask about leaving the car 48 hours. It's a very accommodating city.
And your route of travel is going to give you incredibly beautiful scenery.

Most of the train stations outside the city have parking lots. We stayed at an apartment near the Puch bei Hallein stop. There was a small free parking lot. There was also a larger paid parking lot across the street, but we didn’t use it so I don’t know if it had limits. You might contact the tourist information office and ask if there are larger lots that offer free parking at train stations.
