Limited time in Salzburg but want to one of these - which do you suggest?
I only visited the Gebursthaus and found it quite interesting in terms of a well-presented exhibit and explanations, plus personal and family artifacts to see--I spent an hour or slightly less.
went to both and the birthplace wins hands down over the residence.
If it still applies: Ideally see both. But with time for only one, I recommend the Geburtshaus over the Wohnhaus, more to see, more elaborate, and way more visitors too. I saw both,... both are worth it.
You can easily do both. I think it was about a 10 or 15 minute walk from the Birthplace to the residence. Incidentally, our Hotel sold us a Salzburg Card which provided free transportation on both buses and trams, and provided free or discounted tickets to attractions. Admission to both the birthplace and residence was free.
I think it was the Residence I went to-it had Mozart's piano! Seeing a piano that Mozart actually played was priceless!
