Salzburg in November

We have time off over American Thanksgiving (November 19-26) and would love to go to Salzburg, but I am worried about the weather. Should we go during this time? Will there be things to do in such an off season? Thank you!
Edited to add: we live in Colorado, so colder temps aren't the worst thing in the world! We have gear!

Looks like the Salzburger Christkindlmarkt is open 17. November - 26. December 2016. Weather wise snow is not a given in November and early December. Hopefully you would get one or two glorious clear blue sky days for visits to the lakes and mountains around Salzburg both in Austria and Germany.

We were there last year in early December. I was hoping for snow but didn't see any. It would have made it more festive. Instead the weather was mild ( in the 40's) and sunny in the daytime but a lot colder at night. I would certainly recommend bringing cold weather clothing such as hats, mittens, etc.

Hi,

The Christmas Markets are simply spectacular.
We visited Salzburg and area the last week of November 2010 and 2013. Loved both trips. Plenty to do. The Christmas Markets are wonderful. Check to see if St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang's market's will be open then. If so, take a cruise on the Wolfgangsee to see the towns. We did this in 2013. I'd include Innsbruck. The markets there open mid November and the backdrop against the high, snow capped alpine scenery is amazing. Our favorite at this time of year is Innsbruck and the area. The Nordekettenbahn trip is terrific, the old town is very pretty and the Hofkirche and Schloss Ambras are well worth seeing. You can easily include the pretty old towns of Sterzing and Brixen over the border in Italy.
