Salzburg Hotels

We are traveling to Austria in December and are looking for a hotel in Salzburg. Most hotels we have looked at seem to be about 350-400$ for a room for two with breakfast. Does anyone have any experience with Villa Flockner? Any other reasonable recommendations with walking distance to Hauptbahnhof?

Thanks!

Highly recommended, nearish the train station but also near restaurants and shopping that is a little off the beaten path. You can look for my review elsewhere on the RS site.

Last year we stayed at the Imlauer Hotel Pitter Salzburg https://imlauer.com/hotel-pitter-salzburg/?lang=en/ which was an easy 15 minute walk from the train station. It is not in the historic city center, but an easy and scenic walk to there over the river. Nice to be away from the crowds but very convenient to everything in Salzburg. Large hotel with nice rooms and rooftop restaurant. Will stay there again on our next visit to Salzburg.

In December 2022, we stayed at the Alstadthotel Weisse Taube for two nights in. triple room and paid $386 total for the two nights. We did not include breakfast though. As for walking distance to the train station, it just depends on what you are good with. It is doable though and have done it on a past trip, but not the one a year ago. The other place we have stayed is Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten which is quite close to the train station, but I have no idea what the current prices are.

We also stayed at Hotel Imlauer Pitter and enjoyed our stay very much. It’s right across the street from Mirabell Palace, and also a bus stop that was very convenient. It was not a long walk to the river either.

Salzburg hotels are expensive. I used points to stay at the Holiday Inn, which is in the modern side of town. It took me about 15-20 mins to walk to old town.
