Salzburg Hotel Recommendation

We will be in Salzburg in late May for two nights. Six adults. I have seen Motel One Mirabell and Motel One Sud recommended. We prefer walking into Old Town. Which hotel is preferable? Or, is there another to consider?

There are many recommendations for hotels in Salzburg on the forum. You may want to search something like "hotel recommendation salzburg" in the search bar. You will get many recommendations. I love Motel One (have stayed at 8 or 9 of them), but I think it's more fun to stay at a place with a little more local flavor. I have made 4 visits to Salzburg and have never stayed at a Motel One there.

I was there last year and stayed at Imlauer & Brau and loved it. It is about a 5 minute walk from the train station, and maybe a 20 minute walk to the Old Town, but frequent buses available to old town. It seemed like there were two parts to this hotel, an older section with traditional rooms, and a newer part with more modern rooms, based on two adjoining lobbies, but I could be confused about that. Imlauer also has a luxury hotel a block away, so more confusing.
Either way, we stayed in a section with traditional rooms and found it extremely comfortable for three of us in two beds, a queen and a twin. Perfectly clean, no weird odors. It was completely quiet even though we were in a very busy part of town and you could see the train station from it- good soundproofing. The biergarten looked lovely, but we didn't eat in it. Very traditional Austrian/German menu. Our stay did include a breakfast buffet which was excellent. Most of all, we loved the front desk staff. Friendly and helpful.
If you plan to explore Old Town a lot, maybe something closer to that would suit you better.

The Alstadt Hotel Hofwirt is right at the beginning of the pedestrian area. Easy walk to everything and just a ten minute ride from the train station. Reasonably priced and includes a wonderful breakfast buffet! We enjoyed our stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at Alstadt Hotel Weisse Taube in Dec, 2022. We had a triple room, which was spacious enough, surprisingly. So you could opt for 2 of those to a bit of money if they are available. The hotel itself was wonderful, and the location was ideal. It was around the corner from the heart of everything, but very quiet. If I make it back there, I would absolutely book this hotel again, FWIW.

I've only stayed at one, so can't say how good it is in comparison to others, but the location and style of the Hotel Elefant worked for me .... and I am sort of pompous and picky.
