We will be in Salzburg on July 11-12, 2017. We are looking for a recommendation for a good outdoor (preferably) concert. We are mostly interested in classical or jazz but we are flexible. Thanks for your suggestions!
Since no one else has answered, I'll chime in. We are headed to Salzburg in May for our first visit there. I have done a lot of searching and it appears to me that, although there are many concerts offered in Salzburg, they are mostly "greatest hits" of Mozart/Vivaldi, et al., many in period costumes, aimed at tourists and rather pricey. There is also classical music at some church services and student concerts at the Mozarteum. The only thing I've noticed that's outdoors is a note I wrote down (source unknown) that says "Brass bands - Sundays 10:30 - Mirabell Gardens." We enjoy jazz as well but I haven't run across anything that looks promising for May.
Hi Nicole, We are planning to do Schloss Mirabell Classical Music Concert(Marble Hall) there in June. We pre booked it through viator.
Good Luck!

That's pretty much what my research has shown as well. Mind you, there's nothing wrong with Eine Kleine Nachtmusik or The Four Seasons, if that suits you, and period costumes or not, pretty much any trained ensemble can play these competently.
