Salzburg dining

Youtube coughed up this guy recently, he does restaurant vlogs all over England and now, has travelled to Salzburg. Even though he barely mentions it by name until far into the video.

Anyway I find him amusing, you might not, but he gives a good idea of what it would be like to visit this particular restaurant. Although he won't be getting any awards from the We Heart Mozart Society anytime soon ...

Definitely need to take his sense of humor in stride, and was a bit surprised at his apparent lack of advance research , but it was all good fun. We've eaten in that restaurant twice and that Nockerl is to die for. One of my favourite desserts ever. But if the desserts, and the side sauce on the side of the wiener schnitzel were traditional, they would have been lingonberries. Maybe it's a translation error

The original Wiener Schnitzel does NOT come with lingonberries (mistaken for cranberries in the video). This habit seeped into Austria due to German tourists.

Wmt1 Which is funny, because afaik lingonberries are not particularly common in Germany to serve with (any) Schnitzel either. Maybe some fancy restaurant came up with the idea and it spread from there?

We eat here tomorrow. I had actually seen his video and did my own research 2 Mos ago before making a reservation. Now hoping we get stuffed in the wine cellar where he ate because the rest looks too sterile/new for the experience. Isn't the Knockerl dessert just American meringue? I have skipped ot at 2 other restaurants so far thinking $30 was a bit much for 3 dollop of meringue. Eeek!

Lol. Comparing a Salzburger Nockerl to some kind of American meringue is like calling a fine Austrian apfel strudel a flattened American apple pie. Sacrilege, and inaccurate. Sure it's expensive; because it has to be made to order and takes time, like a souffle, and serves 3-4 people, not just one. We were 4 adults and couldn't finish it all, delicious as it was. But there are certainly other options on the menu.
