Salzburg Card - help - can you clarify website instructions based on your experience?

The Salzburg Card website has FAQs but two questions seem to provide different answers, but I may be missing a nuance.

Here's the specific question I'm trying to answer. If I order the Salzburg Card online and I drive in, dropping the rental car at the airport, how do I get to my hotel using free bus ride granted by the Salzburg card?

The FAQs below seem to indicate I can get my Salzburg card at the airport, but I have to activate it at one of the two Tourist Offices in town. But there's also a mention of a voucher that the bus will take (only once), but when/where do I get the voucher? And why would I use the voucher if I can get the card at the airport?

When I book my Salzburg Card online, can I use it immediately?

No. When you book online, you receive a voucher which you will then
have to exchange for the actual card at one of our two tourist
information centers in Salzburg, either on Mozart Square (at No. 5
Mozartplatz) or at the main station (No. 1 Südtirolerplatz). The
voucher itself is valid as a one-time bus ticket from the airport or
from Park & Ride car parks in the city.

Do I have to book/reserve the Salzburg Card online before I actually
arrive in Salzburg?

No. You can obtain your personal Salzburg Card after you get here,
from virtually all hotels in the city, at ticket offices, all tourist
information offices in and around the city, at the airport, the main
station etc.

I'd say you missed a nuance but there is another question worth asking.

if you book online the so called voucher is probably an email with a QR code. You would just show it to the bus driver at the airport who might stamp or endorse it but probably not. Since the voucher is only valid FROM the airport into the city it woulld be unlikely anyone would try for an extra free ride (you'd have to pay to get out there again!) Then you take it to the tourist centre who exchange it for a real card. But they say you can buy the card at the airport. So why would anyone buy it in advance? And why can't you exchange the voucher at the airport? The answers aren't obvious on the official website but seem to be that the place at the airport that sells real cards is the news/bookstand, which won't have the equipment to validate the voucher. And their opening hours may not be suitable for all incoming flights.

thanks Steve, it helps that you've read it as I have. I'll just plan to hit the TI.

Thanks again!

I can't help you with the airport bus question, but we just purchased our Salzburg Card from our hotel after we arrived by train. I think several hotels have them available.
