Forgive me for asking this again. I could not find the answer. We are renting a car for 2 weeks in Salzburg. We will be driving all over including Innsbruck, Fussen and other areas. Is a 4 door compact auto from Auto Europe (VW Golf or similar) sufficient for this purpose? I know there are many hills. Thanks in advance.
I had the same category car in the same area and it was just fine in terms of the terrain such as hills, etc. I don't know how many will be in the car to offer an opinion about size and comfort for you and your traveling companion(s). We were 2 adults with carry on sized luggage.
Thanks. 2 adults with a few large suitcases.
Define a few large suitcases. There was enough room in the back of our VW Golf for 2 carry on sized cases and two smaller backpacks. If you aren't stopping anywhere while enroute with luggage you can always utilize the back seat.
I'm afraid I disagree with Andrea. Sorry Andrea (say hi to Jim).
If you put unsecured luggage - carry on or "large" - in the back seat and have an abrupt stop where a seatbelt and airbag may save your life, the suitcase flying forward will likely take your head(s) off so that the seatbelt and airbag have not saved you.
I've seen it. Don't do it. Get a car that is large enough for all your luggage.
These are check through bags with wheels. Avg size. Probably won't stop for any significant time. Thanks for the help
Wow Nigel! I've never seen that happen so the thought never occurred to me. Thanks for bringing that up. We like to keep our luggage hidden in the trunk.
Yes wow again! I hope to never see it happen. Good point. Thank you
Keep in mind that the majority of your selections will possibly be diesel and manual.
