Salzburg bus route info needed

We're coming in by train, staying not far from the Mozartplatz, so we know we'll be getting off at the Mozartsteg bus stop right by the river on Rudolfskai. We also know that to get back to the train station, we just have to catch a bus on the other side of the river, probably at the Imbergstraße stop. The bus routes that hit both stops are the Red numbered 3, 5, 6 and 25. Also the green numbered 160, 170 and 175 - according to Google Maps.

A couple questions:
What's the difference between red and green?

Also, it's possible when we leave Salzburg that walking across the bridge to the Imbergstraße stop couldn't happen, so we'd just catch the bus at the Mozartsteg/Rudolfskai stop and ride the whole route, eventually arriving at the train station. But in the interest of saving time, do any of those routes go along Rudolfskai but cross the river right away at the Karolinenbrücke bridge and head right back to the station instead of carrying on who-knows-how-long before turning back? Google Maps just doesn't seem to want to overlay transit routes on the main map, but if I understand route maps like on Moovit, the answer's a big no..

In the link given above you can switch to English in the menu.

Just enter a starting point and a destination and you will be given all public transport options, including walking, cycling, going by car.

Red bus lines are Salzburg City busses, green busses are regional busses going beyond Salzburg's city limits. You may use whatever you want. The complimentary public transport pass you will receive from your hotel covers the whole area of the State of Salzburg.

when you use that above link it highlights each option on a very detailed map

I believe that green is regional and red is local, but it doesn't matter

yes, I checked that link as well, I know which lines get me to and from the stops. My question was more "is there a bus I could catch at the Mozartplatz stop that crosses the Karolinenbrücke bridge right away to go back to the station, instead of walking across the Mozartsteg bridge to catch a bus on that side.." It's just that mobility might become an issue at a point, so just doing research. That site doesn't seem to have full route maps available just for info. That's ok, if we don't put too much on ourselves, we'll be fine for walking to the other side of the river.
Thanks for the answers about the red vs. green!

The good news, if mobility might be an issue, is that Salzburg is quite small and walkable.

The bad news is, it's quite hilly between the river and train station.

"The bad news is, it's quite hilly between the river and train station." - It wasn't last year.

DK, this is the local bus link: https://salzburg-verkehr.at/

The Salzburg Justizgebäude stop will help you.

"is there a bus I could catch at the Mozartplatz stop that crosses the Karolinenbrücke bridge right away to go back to the station, instead of walking across the Mozartsteg bridge to catch a bus on that side.."

If you enter the exact bus stop (Mozartsteg/Rudolfskai) instead Mozartplatz as starting point then you will get options starting from there (without walking across the bridge). Although there is no direct connection to the train station, you will need to change once.

The walk across the bridge is less than a quarter mile.

That site doesn't seem to have full route maps available

If you search for a route and click on one of the search results you will get the deatails of that connection. When clicking then the colored number of a bus line you will get its full route from end to end.

I just took my other half on the "virtual walk" using Google Street View, from the hotel across the bridge to the stop on the other side. Won't be a problem. :) Thank you to all who replied, RS fans/travelers are the best!
