Salzburg = Berchestgaden lodging

Hi !

We (2 adults and 2 young kids) will arrive from Nuremberg in Salzburg july 23 for 3 nights. We want to vitsit the old town and do daytrip to lake region and Berchestgaden salt mine + Eagle nest.

Lodging seems very expensive ans scarse at those dates. Can someone indicate me a place for us that would be convenient and not too expensive ? Maybe we could fin a place not far from a train station somewhere between Salzburg and Berchtesgaden ?

Thanks !

what does "not too expensive" mean to you? How young are the children?

Rooms are priced by the number of occupants, not however many you can make fit, however rollaway cribs are usually fairly inexpensive.

So, are you looking for €50, €100, €200 a night?

In an ideal world we would pay less than 120 euros by night but that seem very hard to achieve. Our kids are 4 and 8 yars old.

For families with kids of those ages, you will need a family room and these are not cheap. You might want to look at apartments and you might find some nice ones on the south edge of Salzburg. I like homeaway or airbnb.

I agree with the above poster. Just booked a short weekend there with my wife and I and it was hard to find lodging. A family of 4 will be tight, the hotel market is tight. If you are willing to stay on the outskirts it will be much much cheaper. Another option is to stay in the lake region and day trip to Salzburg. If you have a car you can stay in a mountain Guest House near A-10 highway, they normally come with half-board and would be much cheaper and better food, especially if youre going to Berchestgaden anyway.

Thanks ks for those advices. Room price for the four of us is a big surprise, we are use to north american standards ( big room with two double or quee beds).

We wont have a car so finding a place deserved by train is essentiel. Maybe we will stay in Freilassing, it's indeed a bit cheaper than Salzburg.
