Hello! We are traveling in June this year and the amount of venues, etc seem overwhelming. Does anyone have recommendations for venues or productions? In particular, anything that I’d have to try to secure tickets ahead of our trip?
Thank you!
There are venues that close for the summer so that should help eliminate some decision making. As for buying tickets, now would be a good time. As to what, the question would be what are you interested in? Music, Ballet, Opera, Theater, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz, Classical? A similar question came up a few weeks ago, you might look for it.
Sorry I am not more help. I suspect someone like Emily will come along with ideas. If you ever come my way I can be more helpful.
There are programs in the offing at two of the best venues in Vienna . The Musikverein ( main concert hall ) and The Volksoper ( opera , ballet and theater pieces) Look here - https://musikverein.at/ and https://www.volksoper.at/ If you have any specific queries about any of the programs , , let me know . Its also essential to know your specific dates
Salzburg can be a bit of a challenge in June as the city is preparing for the Salzburger Festspiele, which begins July 17 and runs about 6 weeks.
I have attended and enjoyed the fortress concert. There is an option for a pre-concert dinner on a terrace of the fortress overlooking the mountains -- the views are amazing, the food gets a good strong "okay."
Others have reported enjoying concerts at Mirabell Palace. Both fortress and Mirabell Palace concerts should be going in June.
The culture calendar for the "big venues" is pretty empty. The Mozarteum, a Salzburg institution dedicated to Mozart, consists of a university and a foundation. Both have cultural events, but again, at that time of year schedules are reduced.
