I am looking for any information on the best location in the city centralized to the major sites. I am traveling with my 27 year old son who has a movement disorder so location is essential. It seems like 'Old Town' may be the best location for a hotel close to the major sites? I already check Hotel Elefant (previously suggested) and it is booked for my nights of Sept. 18 & Sept 19. I have a flexible budget of $300/night. Any suggestions on guides and do not miss sites is greatly appreciated.

We've stayed at Hotel Goldgasse (used to be called Goldenen Ente) and loved it. It's in a very good location just about the length of a city block from the heart of Salzburg. I think it would be hard to get a more central location. Last time we stayed there was in 2008 so it's been a while, but it looks like it still gets excellent reviews.

Hi, I just checked Hotel Elefant on Booking.com and it shows a room available for your dates. There's also a room available at Altstadthotel Weise Taube, where we stayed, which is very convenient in the Old Town area. Rooms are about $150/night there.

I just checked and maybe Hotel Elefant doesn't have a triple but the other hotel you suggested did so I went ahead and booked a triple there.
