We have eaten at bwezel und gwolb before and looked forward to it. We arrived and were welcomed and ..,after ordering off the menu sat there for two hours while locals around us got served. Obvious attitude problem.
Be careful of the older waiter. Left without food. Won't ever eat here again
Sorry to hear that, it was one of the places we liked to eat at when we visit Vienna.
Ah, the old cranky waiter chestnut. Unfortunately, this is a problem beyond your experience at this place here in Vienna. You just never know; but I have learned to expect poor service here and am pleasantly surprised if it's decent. By the way, the correct spelling is Brezl Gwoelb - took me a minute to figure it out. I have been there a few times w/o issue. You should review on TripAdvisor for a wider audience and more consistent approach for reviewing.
Oh man - reminds me of when we were eating at a restaurant near the Vatican during our first trip in 08 (I know now - don't eat near the Vatican...lol)...or should I say - my husband was eating and I never got my meal at all. It was like our 3rd day in Rome (and our 1st 'big' trip)...so I learned a lot in our last few trips, but at the time, I couldn't understand why the waiter wasn't coming over to check on us...trying to catch his eye was impossible. I think after an hour of trying to figure out if I was going to get fed or if they forgot about us, I finally got fed up and we went inside to pay for hubby's meal. When I told them I never got mine, they were shocked! How did that happen?! And it was a dreary rainy day...not our best day in Rome. So our meal that night at an Irish pub somewhere in the Trevi Ftn area was a Godsend - attentive friendly waitress, lots of food and warmth - I almost fell asleep it was so cozy!
Hi,
Thanks for the info on this restaurant. I'll have to look into this place on the next trip. Re: "cranky older waiter" with attitude....he must speak that Viennese dialect.
Sounds like the german waiter from the mini series Winds Of War. If you saw the series, you know what I mean.

".... after ordering off the menu sat there for two hours while locals around us got served." It actually took you two hours to leave? Two hours of your life wasted. 20 minutes would have been the maximum for me, especially if others were being served ahead of me.
