We are visiting Salzburg in May-
One day we are planning to rent bikes and ride to Hellbrunn Palace and then to the Hallein Salt Mine.
We are going to buy the ticket ahead for the salt mine. Any recommendations on a good time to go? How long should we plan on being at Hellbrunn? We will visit Hellbrunn, eat lunch and then head to the mine.

Riding by bike from Hellbrunn to the Salt Mine is about 1 hour (9 miles), and in the last section you will have to climb about 1000 ft. The very last admission to the Salt Mine is at 5pm. Hope this helps to figure out your schedule.
I would add that unlike Vienna, Salzburg and the surroundings are very very hilly. Somewhere on Google there are probably maps for hikers and bikers that show elevation/altitude, check one out. This may not be the best plan.
