Restaurant suggestions in Vienna

Hello, I'll be in Vienna from December 25 to 30 with my wife and our 18-year-old daughters. I'm looking for restaurants that offer also alternatives to meat, preferably with natural wines. I’ve done a bit of research and put together a list. Does anyone have other suggestions? Thank you!

  • Lugeck
  • O Boufes
  • Mochi
  • Am Nordpol 3
  • Mani

Natural wine is a popular trend towards producing wine with minimal intervention. I have quite a few friends in Vienna who are totally into this idea.

As a general rule, nearly every restaurant will offer vegetarian options - it is just that some do it better than others. I am a big fan of your list except Lugeck, which I find average. I particularly love Mani im Vierten.

I would add a few alternatives - Palmenhaus (my go to), Amerlingbeisl, Ulrich, Sipsong Bar (they also have food), and Glacis Beisl.

This is a pretty good explanation of natural wines, the making of which is popular in Austria but not exclusive. https://www.wsetglobal.com/knowledge-centre/blog/2023/january/13/what-is-natural-wine.

Like conventional wines, some are good, some not so good. My biggest complaint is the unpredictability as it’s common to interpret flaws as natural character.

Hi Emily, thanks for the suggestions!

Would Mani Yppenplatz work for dinner as well?

Are you sure they will be open on those days? The restaurant operates out of a market stall, so they might have special hours.
