Restaurant near Spanish Riding School

That is ground zero for tourists. Hard to find something authentic there. Is there a reason why it needs to be there, especially as it is so easy to move around Vienna?

That said, I can recommend Palmenhaus, Green Door Bistro, Plachuttas Neuer Markt, Zum Schwarzen Kameel.

IMHO, "Plachuttas Neuer Markt" is very touristy, and I would rank it far below of "Zum Schwarzen Kameel" which is the best in this list (both for the cuisine and the architecture, which is not recognized by most guests).

Yeah, it’s impossible to avoid touristy in that area.

Thanks for the feedback. We found a very good restaurant while walking after visiting the Sisi Museum. Concorde on Bräunerstraße 4. Authentic Neapolitan pizza, arrancini and salad. Worth a visit. Wish I could same the same about the riding school!

This place is called Cocore and has been opened in February 2026 as the second one, the first being in Berggasse 14 opposite the Sigmund Freud Museum.

Thanks for giving your feedback on where you ended up. I'm not sure I understand, however, why you asked for recommendations as you ended up doing your own thing.

As for the Spanish Riding School, I caution again and again that this is truly not for everyone. I went to a practice once and found it so incredibly boring. The venue is gorgeous and I'm sure that if you know something about dressage/horses, then it will be valuable, but for me it was a skip. I think a lot of people think it is something you must do.
